2009 - 2013 Clyde Fenton Primary School Katherine

From January 2009 through to December I was Principal of Clyde Fenton Primary School in Katherine. The school is the oldest school in Katherine and had around 260 students enrolled. 64% of the students are indigenous.

We re designed the school logo and launched a new Strategic Plan for Improvement - the catch phrase 'The CFS Way' was launched along with accompanying actions.

Over the 5 years at the school implemented some really special programs:
  • The CFS Economy with CFS dollars as part of our attendance strategy
  • The CFS Shop where students could spend their dollars which opened each Friday
  • Buy a Day's where students could use their money to spend extra time with a staff member of their choice
  • Attendance Reward days at the town pool
  • Song of the Week - where students got to choose which song we played over the PA system with the bells each week
We also introuced some core programs which have had a direct result on improving the outcomes and wellbeing of all at the school:
  •  School Wide Positive Behaviour Support
  • Doorways into Practical Literacy
  • NZ Maths
  • Walker Approach to Learning Actively
I lived in a unit on the south side of town.
I enjoyed having my own spa in the courtyard at the back.
